Mead Recreation provides quality youth sports camps and leagues for grades Pre-K through 8th grade. Recreational leagues prepare kids with the fundamentals of each sport and teach good sportsmanship and teamwork. Above all, the league is conducted with the idea of fun participation and excitement while learning a sport in a positive environment. Some specific purposes for the league are:

  • To give each child the opportunity to learn the importance of good sportsmanship and fair play competition.
  • To teach the basic rules, skills, and techniques involved so that each child may play and enjoy the game.
  • To give each child the opportunity to meet in friendly competition with other children of the same age.
  • To expose players to different styles of coaching strategies to further develop their skills.

What you should know:

  • Practice times, days, and locations are determined by the coach.
  • Teams practice 1-2 hours per week (varies by age).
  • Coaches meetings are typically held 1 - 2 weeks before the first scheduled practice.
  • We make every effort to accommodate requests but they are NOT guaranteed.
  • Reversible uniforms will be used for all leagues. If your child already has a reversible Mead Recreation jersey (from basketball, soccer, volleyball), you may use that for a discounted registration fee. If you need a new Mead Recreation jersey, please select "you need a reversible jersey or a new size" during registration.

**Scholarships are available to those families in need** To apply for a scholarship, please print off the scholarship application and return it to the Town of Mead or email it to the Recreation Coordinator. Recipients will be notified by email.
