Crack Sealing & Slurry Sealing

Beginning on July 29th there will be road repair including crack sealing and then slurry sealing on Martin & Palmer and in North Creek and Feather Ridge subdivisions.

Below is the information from the door hangers that were placed in the affected areas.

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION

Foothills Paving and Maintenance, Inc. is under contract to Crackseal your street.  The asphalt has cracked due to exposure and needs to be sealed.  This work will start within a few days of this notice.  “No Parking” signs will be set a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the work.  Please remove vehicles from the street Mon-Fri during the hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, until work is completed and signs are removed.  Streets will remain open to local traffic.  Also, if you have children please watch them closely since the material we are using is EXTREMELY HOT!

Step 1:  Clean cracks of all vegetation, loose and foreign matter by means of compressed air.

Step 2:  Seal cracks with a hot rubberized asphalt or concrete crack sealant.  This process usually runs in conjunction with the cleaning of the cracks for a faster operation so not to impede traffic for long periods of time.

Step 3:  After step 2 is completed then all barricades will be removed to allow for the traveling public.

Additional Information

Crackseal is a polymer modified asphalt product when heated becomes a liquid asphalt sealer to seal cracks in existing asphalt and concrete pavements. This product is normally used to seal cracks from 1/8” to 1” in width that exist in the pavement.  Hot pour crack seals are normally used to stop the intrusion of water into the underlying sub-base which can cause damage to the existing asphalt pavement.

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION

Foothills Paving and Maintenance, Inc. is under contract with your local government to resurface your street with a process called Slurry Seal.  Weather permitting, between the hours of _7:00am_ and  7:00pm, days of  ___________, we will be resurfacing your street.  When “No Parking” signs are placed on your street, please remove vehicles and place in your driveway or nearest street where “No Parking” signs are not visible.  This is a preventative process that applies a mixture of aggregate and emulsion to structurally sound streets.  Please arrange to keep your vehicles off of your street.  Your car may be left in the driveway if it will not be in use this day.  We also request that all watering devices and sprinklers be turned off.

Step 1:  The cleaning of the existing asphalt pavement by means of a pickup sweeper or by flushing the surface with water.

Step 2:  Applying the Slurry Seal by means of a Slurry Seal mixing unit which applies a thin surface of crushed aggregate, emulsion and water to the existing asphalt pavement.

Step 3:  Wait for 2-3 hours for water to evaporate which allows the new Slurry Surface to cure then open barricades to traffic.

Common Questions

What time will you be on my street?

We do several streets a day, and can not give an exact time.  We ask that all vehicles be moved during the above stated hours.

Where can I park my car?

On streets with no “No Parking” signs visible, or streets with signs that have different dates.

How soon can I drive on my street?

Once the “STREET CLOSED” signs are placed on your street, it takes approximately 4 to 6 hours to cure.  During this time no vehicles are permitted, excluding work trucks.  Driving on the street will cause damage to the street and your vehicle.  When “STREET CLOSED” signs are removed, your street is ready for traffic.
