The Community Development Department has three divisions: Building, Planning, and Code Enforcement. The department is responsible for properly planning and developing quality residential and business neighborhoods.

The Community Development Department provides information regarding zoning, the land use review process, setback requirements, flood plain status, and allowable uses. The department is also responsible for the administration and updating the Town of Mead Comprehensive Plan, Mead’s Municipal Code, and other related regulations. Community Development works with the Planning Commission, Board of Trustees, and residents to prepare and guide the Town of Mead's growth, enhancement, and preservation. This work helps to ensure life-safety and quality-of-life standards, now and in the future.
