Denver Regional Council of Governments elects board officers for 2024-2025

February 28, 2024 (Denver, CO): The Denver Regional Council of Governments has elected its officers to serve a one-year term effective immediately. Elected on Feb. 21 to lead the board of directors are: 

  • Wynne Shaw, City of Lone Tree, chair 
  • Jeff Baker, Arapahoe County, vice chair 
  • Colleen Whitlow, Town of Mead, secretary 
  • Richard Kondo, City of Northglenn, treasurer 

Steve Conklin, mayor of the City of Edgewater. will serve as immediate past chair. During the board meeting on Feb. 21, DRCOG Executive Director Douglas W. Rex expressed his appreciation for Conklin’s year of service, adding that DRCOG has been “very lucky to have great chairs and you’re one of them.” 

Conklin wished incoming board chair Mayor Pro Tem Wynne Shaw the best, adding, “this is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.” He also welcomed incoming treasurer Richard Kondo and thanked past chair Kevin Flynn for his mentorship over the past year. 

“I am privileged to lead the Denver Regional Council of Governments as board chair,” said Shaw. “Collaborating with other dedicated DRCOG board members, we will continue to address the critical challenges our region faces. Working together, we will share innovative approaches to housing, transportation and environmental issues, all while seeking solutions to meet the needs of our aging population. We anticipate a busy and productive year ahead.” 

The DRCOG board of directors meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. In addition to its monthly meeting, board work sessions are held at 4 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Audio, video and presentations from both the meeting and work sessions are posted online each month. DRCOG currently has 58 participating member governments. In addition, the governor appoints three non-voting representatives to the board and Regional Transportation District (RTD) has a non-voting representative.
