Business Licenses

The Town of Mead requires all business activities and enterprises physically located within the Town or operating within the Town to obtain and maintain a valid Town of Mead Business License. 

A business license is required by any business that is:

  • Physically located within the Town of Mead (commercial or residential unit) and/or
  • Conducting sales or services within the Town of Mead and/or
  • Leasing property within the Town of Mead

Business License Applications, along with your fee, can be submitted via:

The Town of Mead accepts cash, check or credit card. Please note that payment is required at the time of application. Emailed applications will not be processed until payment is received. Please call 970.535.2643 with any questions.

Home Occupation Affidavit

The Town of Mead allows home occupations within residential zoning districts, as long as they meet certain criteria. All home occupations must be registered with the town by completing a business license application. Anyone conducting a business out of residential premises, must also fill out and submit a Home Occupation Affidavit. There is a one-time Home Occupation Affidavit fee of $50. 

Additional Federal and State Licenses and Permits

Some businesses may require federal and/or state licenses or permit. Please research the requirements of your business.

  • Federal Licenses & Permits: Certain businesses, like ones that sell alcohol or firearms, require a federal license or permit. Click here to find out which ones impact your business and how you can comply.
  • State Licenses & Permits: In addition to sales tax registration, your Colorado-based business must also acquire permits or licenses that are relevant to the nature of the offered services. The cost and conditions surrounding the permit or license will vary. Several examples of state permits and licenses include: Brewery, Distillery or Winery (check with Town Clerk for local requirements)Plumbing Permits, Bingo and Raffle Licenses
