Proclamation: Mead High School Girls Lacrosse Team 2023 4A State Champions Day

PROCLAMATION

Mead High School Girls Lacrosse Team 2023 4A State Champions Day June 9, 2023

WHEREAS, Mead High School Girls Lacrosse in its first year as a team, earned its first state championship title;

WHEREAS, the 2023 Mead Mavericks qualified for the first time in program history for the 4A Colorado State Lacrosse Championships and came home with the title;

WHEREAS, on May 19, 2023 the Mead Mavericks beat the Castle View SaberCats at the 4A CHSAA Girls State Championship at the Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver with a score of 13-5;

WHEREAS, these students not only brought home the State Championship for their school, but served as ambassadors for the Town of Mead, as they played throughout their season;

WHEREAS, Mavericks head coach, Katie Coleman, has coached her players in building a team, perseverance, hard work, and responsibility;

WHEREAS, the Mead Mavericks have worked towards this new horizon of building a new team program and community for those involved;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Colleen Whitlow, Mayor, do hereby proclaim June 9, 2023 as Mead High School Girls Lacrosse 2023 4A State Champions Day.
