Trustees join fellow leaders at state-wide conference

June 28, 2023--Several members of the Mead Board of Trustees are attending the 101st Colorado Municipal League’s (CML) annual conference in Aurora this week. The conference is CML’s key event, where municipal officials from around the state connect to share ideas and discuss issues of widespread concern.

Local leaders representing Mead at this year’s annual conference are:

  • Mayor Colleen Whitlow
  • Trustee David Adams
  • Trustee Chris Parr
  • Trustee Herman Schranz

“It’s incredibly important that small communities, like Mead, are bringing our concerns to the table,” said Mayor Colleen Whitlow. “Municipal leaders can learn so much from each other’s challenges and successes. We’re here to be the voice for Mead, our residents, and our future. We’re grateful to be joining the conversation and we look forward to sharing what we’ve learned.”

CML is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that represents the interests of 270 cities and towns. Municipal elected officials earn credits toward a MUNIversity award by participating in CML-sponsored training events. Award levels comprise of Fundamental Level, Leadership Level, and Graduate Level. This year Trustee Adams and Trustee Schranz both earned the 2023 MUNIversity Fundamental Award. Mayor Whitlow and Trustee Brodhead have previously earned the Graduate Level Award.

CML’s MUNIversity program is designed to recognize municipal elected officials who participate in educational events to increase their knowledge of government and enhance their capacity to lead. Educational sessions of interest at this year’s conference include strategic planning, service continuity, affordable housing, legislative impacts, and water/wastewater infrastructure.
