July 13, 2026 – The Mead Police Department is investigating a vehicle-pedestrian crash that occurred on July 13 at approximately 9:13 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 66 and Foster Ridge Drive.
The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was not crossing the roadway at a designated crosswalk when they were struck by a westbound SUV. The driver remained on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. The pedestrian sustained serious bodily injuries and was flown to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland for treatment.
Mead Police officers responded to the scene and were assisted on site by the Regional Forensic Crash Team during the investigation. The Mead Police Department is the lead investigating agency, and the investigation remains ongoing.
While officers were investigating the initial crash, a second crash occurred directly behind officers, requiring the closure of all westbound traffic on Highway 66 to ensure the safety of first responders.
