Neighbors by Ring is a free app that helps residents connect with their community and stay informed about what’s happening around them, whether or not they are Ring customers. The app allows residents to share neighborhood updates, safety information, and community news, all with the goal of creating safer, more connected neighborhoods.

Neighbors by Ring also offers features that allow residents to receive notifications about reported crime in their area and to share or request video footage that may assist in investigations. In addition to crime alerts, the app can be used to receive community updates on safety, traffic, weather, wildlife, lost pets, and other local concerns.

The Mead Police Department is recommending the Neighbors by Ring app as an optional tool for residents who would like timely, neighborhood-based updates. What we’re asking residents to do is simply download the app and enable push notifications for community alerts so you can receive important information as it happens. Participation is voluntary, and residents choose what information they share.

How It Works
  • Download the Neighbors app
  • Opt-in to join your neighborhood.
  • Customize the geographic area you want to receive notifications for (users must verify where they are located and can only participate in their neighborhood).
  • Receive real-time alerts from your neighbors, MPD, and the Ring Neighbors team that inform of crime and safety alerts as they happen.
  • View local crime and safety posts via a live feed or interactive map.
  • Share text updates, photos and videos taken on any device, including Ring’s home security devices.
