Weld County Emergency Alerts

Weld County launched the CodeRed Emergency Communications System in 2014. The alert system is a high-speed telephone emergency notification service allowing public safety agencies the ability to deliver pre-recorded information to targeted areas within Weld County. The system may be implemented in situations such as police activity in an area, a lost child (Amber Alert), wildfires, or any other incident in which residents in the immediate area and surrounding areas would need to take appropriate steps to safeguard life and property.

Crime Prevention Tips

Cameras
  • The Mead PD uses Flock and N.O.L.A. cameras to help detect and deter crime. If your HOA or business would like to add camera systems in your neighborhood, please contact us for more information.
  • We partner with Ring Neighbors to send out crime notifications and requests for assistance in reviewing your video footage. You do not have to own a Ring camera to create an account and join the online community of people who help solve crimes by voluntarily providing video footage when requested.
Event Participation

If you would like to request an officer to attend an HOA meeting or other event, please contact us at police@townofmead.org or 970-805-4184.

Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch is program that requires participation and organization among members of the community. For more information click here. This website also provides other safety tips for you and your family.

Police Ride Along

If you would like to experience the job of a Mead Police Officer, please complete the Ride Along Form and return it to the police department. As scheduling allows, you will be contacted for a time to ride with an officer.

VIN Verifications

Mead PD will complete a VIN verification at no charge to residents. Please call Dispatch at 720-652-4222 to request an officer complete a verification.

What’s the difference between a VIN verification and a certified VIN inspection?

  • A certified VIN inspection is for vehicles with titling issues. Common reasons for certified VIN inspections include salvage vehicles, vehicles purchased without a title, lost titles or titles signed incorrectly, vehicles or trailer assembled from kits, vehicles or trailers that are missing VIN numbers or you are trying to title on off-road dirt bike that you’ve made street legal.
  • VIN Verifications are for vehicles without those issues. You own a vehicle (and there are no issues with the title) that has been registered to you or purchased in another state and you are simply trying to switch the registration and title to Colorado.
