Victim Services

The Carbon Valley, Mead (CVM) Victim Services Program supports victims of crime and/or unexpected tragedy in the jurisdictions of Dacono, Firestone, Frederick, and Mead. We are committed to ensuring that all victims of crimes covered under the Victim Rights Act (VRA) are aware of the rights afforded to them and to meeting law enforcement’s responsibilities under those rights.

Crisis Intervention & Support

The Victim Services Program provides victims with support, assistance and crisis intervention at a time when it is most needed. Victim Services Programs have been created to solely focus on the victims and to help the victim and family cope with the crisis. The Carbon Valley, Mead Victim Services Program is staffed by dedicated advocates who are on-call 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week, to respond immediately to the scene of a crime, accident, or victim's home at the request of a police officer. Victim advocates not only support victims through the immediate trauma, but they also provide follow-up with referral information to further aid victims and their families through the healing process.

Information

Your advocate will provide you with information regarding your rights as a victim of a crime covered by the Colorado Victim Rights Act. They can also give you procedural and factual information concerning the accident or crime and act as liaisons with law enforcement and other community agencies.

Resources and Referrals

Advocates use community resources, as well as the victim's own resources, to help build a network of support. Many resources are available in the community, including, but not limited to: financial assistance, victim compensation funds; counseling; legal resources; medical resources; transportation; household assistance; child care; assistance in dealing with creditors, employers, and landlords; services for victims with special needs; and translation services.
