Fugitive arrested with stolen vehicle at Mead Municipal Court

November 21, 2023--On November 16, Officers from the Mead Police Department arrested Kaylen Montoya, age 26, at municipal court proceedings in Mead. Before his arrest, Montoya arrived for his mandatory court appearance and was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics and in violation of a protection order. While investigating the incident, officers located a stolen vehicle in the adjacent parking lot, which appeared to be under the control of the suspect. Mead Police immediately impounded the vehicle and discovered a handgun, 4.5 grams of methamphetamine, 38.7 grams of fentanyl, and what was believed to be Montoya’s false teeth.

Kaylen Montoya is facing charges of second-degree motor vehicle theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, special offender in possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, violation of a protection order, possession of burglary tools, criminal possession of an identity document, criminal possession of financial devices, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal mischief.
