Investigation of stolen motorcycle leads to arrest for drugs, loaded handgun

July 10, 2022- On July 9 at approximately 11 p.m., a Mead Police Officer contacted a suspicious person in the area of a stolen motorcycle at the parking lot of 7-Eleven in Mead. The person initially gave a fictitious name to the officer, but he was eventually identified as Cody James Livran (DOB: 8-4-1995). Livran had an active warrant for his arrest and when officers attempted to take him into custody, he resisted. Officers were able to get Livran into restraints, but an officer assisting from Platteville received minor injuries during the altercation.

During the investigation, officers located a loaded handgun and 33 grams of fentanyl pills on the suspect. Livran was booked into jail on the warrant and is being charged with Special offender, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II controlled substance, 2nd degree assault on a peace officer, 2nd degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, criminal impersonation, resisting arrest, possession of a concealed weapon without valid permit, possession of burglary tools, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The motorcycle, that had been stolen out of Arvada, is being returned to the owner. If you have any further information about this suspect, please contact the Mead Police Department through the Weld County Regional Communications Center at 720-652-4222.
