Mead Police respond to fatal crash

July 4, 2023- On the evening of July 3, the Mead Police Department responded to a single vehicle roll over crash on Colorado Boulevard just south of WCR 32. The vehicle appeared to lose control at a high rate of speed while avoiding the road closure barricade. The vehicle left the roadway, rolled several times, and came to rest in a ditch on the west side of Colorado Boulevard. Another motorist saw the cloud of dust and reported the crash. The driver was deceased when the officers arrived.

Officers from Platteville, Firestone and Frederick responded to assist with the investigation. An investigator from the Weld County Coroner’s Office responded and assumed custody of the deceased.

The identity of the driver is being held until notifications can be completed.
