Mead Police respond to shots fired call in Frederick

January 5, 2023--At approximately 1:00 a.m. on January 5, the Mead Police Department assisted with a multi-jurisdictional response to shots fired in the 200 block of 7th Street in Frederick. Shortly after arriving on scene, officers and the suspect exchanged gunfire and the suspect was shot and killed. No police officers were injured during this incident.

The 19th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is now leading the investigation of this shooting. CIRT is responsible for the investigation into the circumstances of any officer-involved shooting or death. The policy of the Mead Police Department is to ensure that officer-involved shootings and deaths are investigated in a thorough, fair, and impartial manner.
